• In Bharatanatyam, the term ‘Nadai’ means to walk. Hence, this aḍavu involves walking either sideways, to the front, backwards or diagonally, while employing various hand movements. Owing to its simplicity in execution, it is not practiced like the other aḍavus. This aḍavu is used at the commencement or in between rhythmic dance sequences or as choreographic ornamentation. It is at times employed in Nruthya.
• In Carnatic music, The number of māthras in an akṣhara is called the naḍai. This number can be 3, 4, 5, 7 or 9, and take the same name as the jāthis. The default naḍai is Chatuśhram.
