Swara is the single or set of syllables for musical notes and also indicates the singing of these syllables. The notes of the scale are designated by the syllables “sa-ri-ga-ma-pa-da-ni-sa”, like the solfa syllables “do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do” in Western music, although the system of scales is different.
