Milad-un-nabi
Milādh Un Nabi marks the birth anniversary of Holy Prophet Muhammadh who is considered to be the chief of all the prophets and to whom the holy Qurān was revealed. It falls on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal of the Islamic lunar calendar year. Though, a large number of Muslims do not believe in celebrating birthdays and death anniversaries because there is no historical evidence for the same, this date marks the most important event in the history of the mankind. However, the extent of celebration is restricted as the same day marks the death anniversary of the Holy Prophet as well. On this occasion, public meetings are organized in mosques where religious leaders and scholars deliver speeches on different aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet, stories of his birth, childhood, youth, adulthood, his character, teachings, sufferings and his forgiving nature, his fortitude in the face of general opposition, leadership in battles, bravery, wisdom, preaching and his final victory through Allah’s mercy over the hearts of people are narrated. Songs are sung in his praise. In certain countries, streets, mosques and buildings are decorated and illuminated with lights at nights. Wealthy Muslims, contribute to charity with generosity. Feasts are arranged for the guests and food is served to the poor.
