Guru Purnima
Hindhus celebrate the full moon day (Pūrṇimā) of the month of Āṣhāḍha(July) as Guru Pūrṇimā .This marks the birth occasion of Kriṇhna-dwaipāyana Vyāsa – author of the Mahābhāratha . He offered his remarkable service to the cause of Vedhic studies by gathering all the Vedhic hymns, dividing them into four parts based on their use in the sacrificial rites and taught his four chief disciples –Paila, Vaiśhampāyana, Jaimini and Sumanthu. This earned him the title Vyāsa as Vyāsa means to edit and to divide.
