Republic Day
The Indian constitution came into force and our country was declared to be a sovereign state on 26 th January, 1950 henceforth this day is celebrated as Republic day every year and it is a declared National Holiday. This day is celebrated with joy and fervor all over India especially in the capital city of New Delhi. Celebrations are grandly planned and it always begins with a solemn reminder of the sacrifice of martyrs who died for the sake of our country and people. Later, the President of the nation comes forward to offer medals of bravery to the people of armed forces appreciating their exceptional courage and also the civilians who have distinguished themselves by their acts in various situations. A grand parade is organized in the capital from Rājghāṭ along the Vijaypath. The different regiments of the Army, Navy and the Air force assemble in the ground well attired and even the horses of the cavalry are charmingly dressed to mark the occasion. The best of the National Cadet Corps members are shortlisted from all over the country to participate in the event and children of various schools are well trained to perform various programmes at the occasion. The grand parade is followed by spectacular displays from the different states of the country. It portrays the activities of people of various states which is accompanied by the music and dance of each culture. This evidently brings out the lustre and value of each and every state of the country. The entire celebrations are telecast in the television to enable all the people to watch and enjoy the same. This day brings out the patriotic feeling of every Indian as it represents each and every state. Due to this reason, Republic day is the most popular among all other National festivals of India.
