Independence Day
On 15 th August 1947, India attained freedom from the British rule and henceforth the day is celebrated as Independence Day every year. It is a declared National holiday and it is celebrated with enthusiasm all over the country. The moment of independence is a moment of pride and glory to the nation. This occasion is considered as an opportunity to pay homage for all the freedom fighters who had sacrificed their lives for the sake of their motherland. Commemorating this, flag hoisting ceremonies are conducted all over the country accompanied by the cultural programmes. The major celebration is at the Red fort where the Prime minister unfolds the National flag saluted by the gatherers. He addresses a speech to the crowd which is a highlight of the occasion. Thousands of kites hit the skies of our capital city and others, making it joyous & colourful. Roads are well decorated with flags & buntings. Buildings of national importance are illuminated. Preparations of the festival are planned in advance and the essence of patriotism is felt all around the country.
